Hello, wonderful readers! It’s Elena, and I’m back to share a pivotal chapter in our journey—one that revolves around a holistic approach to health. Buckle up, and let’s dive into the heart of the matter.
Vitamin D3 Insights
After my daughter’s multiple sclerosis diagnosis, maintaining her vitamin D3 levels became a focal point. With an initial level of 8.9 (far below the reference values of 30 to 100 IU), I delved into scientific studies from reputable institutes worldwide. The importance of this vitamin for those with MS became glaringly evident. After regular check various supplements were explored. She uses vitamin D3 supplements in the form of drops and a cream. So far, we thought that the most effective form of vitamin D3 is typically in oil form, as it mirrors its natural state. It’s crucial to note that these supplements should be taken with a meal to enhance absorption by the body. However, we encountered some challenges in this regard.
Vitamin D3 supplementation has the potential to lead to the formation of sand or kidney stones or urinary tract. Therefore, it’s essential to maintain regular hydration by increasing water intake. The key discovery was the effectiveness of vitamin D3 cream, addressing absorption concerns without unwanted side effects. To mitigate complications, she primarily relies on vitamin D3 cream but occasionally uses drops too. Ensuring vitamin D3 levels remain within the normal range is imperative.
Dietary Changes
Making a comeback, her diet now stands as the cornerstone of our strategy. Fortunately, her affinity for fish, seafood, salads, fruits, and vegetables has greatly eased the transition. Emphasizing brain stimulation and incorporating anti-inflammatory foods, our approach highlights the positive impact of a well-thought-out diet on overall health.
The essential foods featured on her plate include turkey, beef liver for meat, fatty sea fish, particularly salmon, and an assortment of seafood. Fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, organic cocoa or dark chocolate, and cinnamon also hold a prominent place. And, without a doubt, nuts are a must!
I’ll delve into each food separately to provide a closer look and explain their respective roles in maintaining health.
Physical Activity
Choosing the right form of exercise was a journey in itself. Research led us to yoga, aligning with
regions where MS is less prevalent. Over time, we explored various activities, each contributing to her overall well-being. It is crucial, in consultation with your doctor, to choose exercises that align with your abilities and comfort level.
Certainly, incorporating stretching exercises into the daily routine is paramount for maintaining good health. Therefore, individuals with multiple sclerosis should engage in exercises that are not necessarily specialized but align with the activities essential for maintaining general health. This approach mirrors the exercise requirements for individuals without MS who aim to preserve their overall health condition.
Baliyan’s Therapies
Our journey took an unexpected turn when we decided to go on vacation to the island of Bali. While
there, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Guru or Baliyan. His therapies, though not conventional or medically grounded, became a profound part of our healing journey. They offered a unique source of hope, reminding us that healing often takes unconventional paths. In the midst of the lush landscapes of Bali, my daughter found solace in these therapies, and perhaps, in that hope, there lies something truly significant.
As we navigated the serene landscapes of Bali, Baliyan’s therapies provided a unique perspective on healing. The rhythmic sound of ocean waves and the gentle touch of traditional healing practices created a tapestry of well-being. While not adhering to the traditional medical route, these therapies added a layer of holistic care, intertwining with our broader approach.
The Balinese culture, deeply rooted in spirituality, contributed to an environment of positivity. As we embraced these therapies, we couldn’t ignore the psychological impact—giving us strength, resilience, and a renewed sense of hope. Baliyan’s unconventional approach became a testament to the intricate connections between mind, body, and spirit.
Mental Health Journey
Navigating the intricate landscape of mental health proved challenging. Encouraging my daughter to express her emotions through writing became a therapeutic outlet. Resuming her law studies became a pivotal step, and today, she stands on the verge of completing her degree. A love novel is ready for the press, and plans for a master’s degree in human rights in South Africa are in the works.
Closing and Hope for the Future
As we reflect on the five years since the diagnosis, the progress is undeniable. Lesions have shown no activity, and a positive mindset has propelled academic and creative achievements. Our journey underscores the profound impact a holistic approach can have on one’s well-being. As we look to the future, the message is clear: empowerment lies in understanding, adaptability, and the belief that a comprehensive approach to health is a journey worth taking.
Thank you for joining us in this chapter of our story. Remember, each step forward is a victory, and together, we’re stronger than any challenge life throws our way.
